Open shifts is a board of overtime opportunities. Supervisors post them when coverage is needed, and anyone who qualifies can claim.

What each card shows

  • Date — large, with weekday and month
  • Time range — start and end
  • Role — console or position label, if any
  • Urgency chip — Open / High priority / Critical
  • Reason — why the shift exists (a PTO, unfilled rotation, etc.)
  • Pay differential — extra $/hr, if any

Claim a shift

Click Claim shift on any card. You’re added to the volunteer list. You stay on that list until:
  • A supervisor selects you (the shift lands on your schedule + you get a message)
  • A supervisor selects someone else (your status becomes passed)
  • You withdraw (click Withdraw on the card, or on your volunteer list at Overtime)
Claiming doesn’t guarantee the shift. Supervisors typically pick by seniority or fairness rules. You’ll see the outcome on the Overtime page and in your Inbox.

Urgency meanings

ChipUsually means
OpenNormal OT need, standard pay
High priorityShort-notice coverage, often with a small differential
CriticalCan’t-go-unfilled — maximum differential, first-come-first-served
